Baer Rear Brake system - 02/11/2008
Review for: Brake Components Track
I was looking for a set of rear Baer disc brakes to match the front. Everywhere I looked, the lowest price was $1270. I found the exact same set, for the torino bearing, for $970 here. Great price and great product. Shipping was about three weeks from the manufactuer. The update status was off by about 10 days. I actually received the set before the date scheduled. I wish they could have sent a tracking number too. Shipped UPS. |

2001 GMC Rebuild - 01/27/2008
Review for: Front AlumaSport Brake Kit
After 100 miles and a couple hour install I enjoy the improved braking, but due to the seasoning process I have yet to fully test them out. I have ordered the rear set an awaiting its arrival. The response to pressure on the brake pedal is still a little sluggish, but once I install the rear brakes, season, bed, rebleed, and test I will report back as to improved performance. 2001 GMC Sierra 5.3 Liter 1500. |

Baer Claw rear track-plus brakes for a '93 5.0 Mustang - 09/14/2007
Review for: Rear Track-Plus Brake Kit
The drilled, slotted rotors look tremendous and the caliper and rotor braking power is much better than the stock drum brakes for this vehicle. Be careful what you are buying because if you are not buying Baer products directly from Baer the sales people dont seem to have a clue. I talked to three different people at Performance Center and got three different answers. The track-plus rear brake kit does NOT come with the painted calipers with the name Baer. Only the front set does. And they have one-piece and two-piece rotors...make sure you know what you are getting. The 2-piece are better. The 87-93 5.0s have three parking brake cables...this Baer set only comes with the rear two. My salesman gave me bad info on the brakes cables, rotors and calipers. Verify everything with Baer headquarters. I need to get the front Baer Claw brake system now. If you got more horsepower, you need more brake power. This set is not adjustable so the peddle is a bit low, but very firm. |

Baer Rear Brake Kit - 09/12/2007
Review for: Rear AlumaSport Brake Kit
Overall the kit looks great and works great. However, when shipped, the hardware clips on the Rear Kit rubbed against the rotor making a god aweful squeaking noise like nails on a chalkboard. I will be requesting a new hardware kit which should solve my noise issue. It also took 6 weeks to get them. I saved a ton of money but I have to go back to my mechanic and have him fix the squeak. Great as long as you dont need them next week. |

big bad baer - 03/16/2006
Review for: Front GT+ Claw Brake System
Well the brakes are great. i installed them with my bubby with relative ease. the stuff fit great. performance was noticeable imediately. well my stock brakes were very weak. the only problem that has arose is the sqeeky front right break. it didnt come about right away but is there now. breaking is well mannered in everyday driving. then when im going hard and making crazy maneuvers they perform exceptionally. overall about a 4.5. 89 gm 1500 2wd 5.7 3 inch front drop 4 inch rear drop. |

01 Civic LX Sedan Baer Brake Kit - 01/20/2006
Review for: Front Track Claw Brake System
I have had 3 big brake kits on my car so far and was by far the most complete kit I have dealt with. Everything fits right, other kits (Wilwood, AEM) I had to shim some of the mounting locations. The rotors are heavier than the Wilwood or AEM kits but for the money this is a great kit hands down. Not to mention it looks WAY meaner than any other kit I have had installed to date. Consider this one if on a budget or not.....worth every penny and some. |

Excellent brake kit, but.... - 09/12/2005
Review for: Rear Touring Claw Brake System
I just purchased the rear disc conversion kit for my '99 Tahoe 4wd. At first look, these appear to be an excellent upgrade vs. the old drums on my vehicle. However, once I read the instructions, I almost immediately returned this kit! Apparantly you have to remove the rear axle and then grind down the axle flanges to accomodate the new disc. This is obviously not something you can easily do with most home tools. However, after you spend considerable time removing the axle; a good machine shop should be able to do this for about $100. The entire process should take you anywhere from 5-9 hrs depending on the tools you have and experience. Also expect to have your vehicle down for a few days while the axle is at a machine shop as well (unless you have some good friends!). But if you are comfortable with this process, you should be quite happy with the end result; which is a rear disc kit that looks just as good as it performs. |
