 Built for performance and show, the Typhoon Air Intake System is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum tube induction system designed to fit many sport compact performance vehicles. Each kit is proven on a dynamometer to increase horsepower and torque. Typhoon intakes come in one of three designs; cold air intakes (CA), short ram intakes (SR), or complete cold air (CCA) intakes which can be configured as either a cold air intake or a short ram intake. Available in an assortment of powder coated colors and polished aluminum, these kits are sure to please in every way. They come with an oversized High-Flow conical air filter designed to provide increased surface area and dust capacity. This extra surface area provides even more airflow at lower restriction than a standard K&N O/E replacement filter that is limited to the size of the factory air box. The oversize air filter also captures more dirt increasing the service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). All K&N Typhoon intakes are constructed of mandrel bent aluminum for a custom look. |

This made a obvious difference in performance and economy. Ive just used the first tank of fuel since installing the intake and I got 2 mpg more than before and a noticeable increase in performance when pulling out into traffic. |

Inclement weather??? - 05/07/2008

OK, I have always been a K&N fan. However, I have never owned a mazda3 before. I suspect the other brands that are out there install the same way. Here is what I am talking about. The typhoon comes in basically 2 parts. If installed completely, the filter hangs down in front of the tire. It has valances around it and all that. The instructions say to not use the long tube in inclement weather for fear of sucking water in the intake. Well it rains a bit in the pacific NW. What is the engineers idea of inclement weather? Not wanting to get caught in the inclement weather with a dead car, I installed the short tube and may install the long one this summer. Also, every other FIPK or CAI I have installed you can actually see when the hood is up. This one is buried under plastic. Works great, sound really good. Mileage and horse power- hard to say. Anyway, I would read the instructions completely if you have the chance before you buy. |

I installed this short ram intake on my 2004 Honda Element in about 2 hours and noticed a performance difference immediately. The throttle response is much improved, and the 4-cylinder Honda engine navigates Austins Hill Country roads much better than with the stock air box. I am very satisfied with the K&N SRI. |

I bought this intake for the extra horsepower at higher rpm, but I found that the K&N intake is very responsive throughout the rpm range. My ZX2 accelerates quicker, and has a faster top speed as well. I would definitely recommend this product for those who want more power, but also if you want to get better gas mileage. Ive been getting on average about 4-5 miles per gallon more than before I installed this intake. Well worth the money. |

Excellent product, service, and price. It came in right on time. It was easy to install and fits in perfectly. There is a noticable difference in power and the sound of the engine is louder and much more satisfying. The intake also makes this very cool and subtle whistling noise as it pulls in air when the car is accellerating. I can already notice a difference in fuel efficiency too. Five stars all around. |
