Review for: Dual 2 1/2inch Sport Truck Exit Stainless Steel Cat Back Exhaust System

Having read some previous reviews, I knew to be prepared for some work on getting the old system out and that would be the hardest part. My experience was no different.
The muffler loosened up from the head pipe easily, but would not come off. The clamps were off and I could rotate the muffler on the pipe with little effort, but it would not move backwards and off the head pipe. With all the hangers off I tried pulling and twisting from the rear, bracing my feet against the spare tire for leverage. Several rounds of pulling, swearing, grunting and still the old muffler held tight. I finally cut the old exhaust behind the muffler and was able to wiggle it off. I removed the spare tire to give myself more room to work.
Instructions were clear and showed pictures of the actual item on the actual vehicle. No interpretation needed here, what you see is exactly what you get.
Installation was smooth and easy. Follow the instructions and you shouldnt have any problems. This was done on my garage floor with the truck elevated on jack stands on the right side so when I say it was easy that means without all the benefits of a lift and a fully outfitted shop. The Gibson Cat Back dual exhaust is very well engineered. The hardware is all strong and robust. I really had torque the nuts on the front connection the get it tight.
The only issue I had was minor. The pipes at the end when you install the dual tips seemed too close together. The tips are not parallel and are in contact near where they connect to the pipes. The result was still acceptable and solid, no rattles.
Overall all very pleased with the install, quality and performance/fuel economy gains. I noticed almost a 2 mpg increase and the truck is noticeable smoother at idle and all rpms. |

Easy to install, nice sound, not overly loud, K&N intake is a lot louder than the exhaust. With these two additions have noticeable increase in acceleration. Gibson makes very good looking exhausts! |

Review for: Swept Side 3inch Aluminized Steel Cat Back Exhaust System With 3 1/2 Inch Polished Tip
|

This exhaust is super simple to install! especially w/ the provided C-clamps and easy to navigate directions.
Getting the stock exhaust off is the only time consuming step (seized bolts on exhaust clamps, so be ready for some cutting).
This exhaust has very deep mellow growl and can only really be heard at lower RPMs. I love the sound and the added torque.
if your looking for something subtle, but noticable and classy I recommend it. If youre looking for something to attract the local authorities, then look elsewhere. |

Everthing was there and everything fit. Like Perfomance said the only hard part was removing old exhaust. My acetylene torch was very handy. |

gibson exaust install - 07/23/2008
Review for: Swept Side 3inch Aluminized Steel Cat Back Exhaust System
|
|||
this exaust was easy to install using hand tools. the instructions were very easy to follow. the one thing I would like to see fixed would be the way the adaptor pipe attachs to the old exaust. the way it hooks up now is it goes inside the old pipe and it would be much easier if it fit over the outside of the pipe. this would make installing the system much easier. the looks and performance is better than the oem exaust. I installed this on my 2004 f-150 fx4. along with a k&n cold air intake system Im getting 21 mpg at 70 mph, up from 17 mpg. I would recomond this exaust to anyone. |

Hated putting it on...loved it when it was done - 07/11/2008
Review for: Dual Extreme Split Side Exit Aluminized Steel Cat Back Exhaust System With Stainless Steel Tips
|
|||
Great quality on all the parts. The kit contained everything necessary. Except it came up 20 inches short!!! After nearly breaking my hand getting this thing put on, something was wrong. Long story short, had to go out and get 3 inch exhaust tubing to fix the problem. What a pain in the-you get the idea. This exhaust replaced the Flowmaster race truck exhaust, which rotted after 2 years!!! This is not an aggressive sounding exhaust, hollow little rumble at idle, no interior drone. But put the pedal down and youre going to hear it. I dont like the look of straight out the back exhausts. This is a distinctive looking and sounding system. I love the finished product sound, quality, and the looks that people give it. Just wish Gibson had remembered to include one of their stickers!!! |

Gibson SS Cat-back Exhuaust-1991 Ford Ranger 2.9L V-6 - 07/04/2008
Review for: Swept Side 2 1/2inch Stainless Steel Side Exit Cat-Back Exhaust System
|
|||
When I bought my truck (used), the first upgrade I wanted was a stainless steel exhaust. I was tired of replacing rusted out exhaust systems every 2 or 3 years at $300 a pop. For a little more money I could put in a stainless steel system and forget about it. That was 8 years ago and it is still going strong. Added to that I gained about 10 more horses and a noticeable improvement in acceleration. Recommended. |

Review for: Dual 2 1/2inch Super Truck Exit Stainless Steel Cat Back Exhaust System
|

Quiet tone at idle but louder at speed. Somewhat annoying over long distances. Relatively easy yo install if you do not have issues with removing old system. Fits correctly and is a good quality unit. |
