4 out of 5 stars Noisey
Review for: Chrome Billet Plus Manual Shifter
From USA Reviewer: Jon Muska   Own this product - Yes
This is a great shifter. Has a nice feel to it, 2nd to 3rd is great, reverse can be hard to get and you have to be careful not to hit 3rd when going for 5th. You get use to in quickly though. Only thing that I dont like is the gear noise you will get, and there is a lot of it. You can get rid of most of it by using a sound deadening material. If you like quiet than you will not like this shifter. Other wise its very nice even though the high price.
5 out of 5 stars Fix My Shifting Problem
Review for: Chrome Billet Plus Manual Shifter

I use to always have a problem of go from 2nd to 1st instead of 3rd an same for 4th - 5th since the factory shift was sloppy feeling when shifting which was mostly do to age of the factory equipment but anyways when i installed this Hurst shift kit it was like driving a different truck i for the first time was able to smoke the tires at a green light an go through the gears without delaying my shifts to make sure i was in the right gear. One suggestion, buy some little bit big bolts an nylon lock nuts will make a different, since the supplied nuts had loosed up on me after about 1000 miles of daily driving.
5 out of 5 stars Excellent product with 3 minor flaws
Review for: Chrome Billet Plus Manual Shifter

Vehicle: 1988 FORD F-150
I bought and installed this shifter on my 1995 F150 4x4 pickup with the Mazda 5 speed. The fit and finish of the shift rod, shift mechanism, shaft and boot/trim are all excellent. The instructions are clear and concise, however one of the flaws is in the instructions - some of the wrench sizes given in the instructions, both existing and for the product were incorrect (not a major concern if you have a well stocked tool box). The shift mechanism, housed in a cadium plated cylinder is strong and solid, and fit into the tranny without incident. Installing the old boot as instructed did not work. The shifter housing was lower than the instructions indicated and therefore I had to modify that part of the installition by turning the old boot upside down, again not a major concern (my truck is not lifted). Once installed, I thought I had a new tranny in my truck. The shifter worked flawlessly for the first few hundred miles, at which point the shaft bolts were loosening (flaw #3) and I had to pull the boot and tighten those two bolts. I used locktite on the bolts. Now, appox. 1000 miles down the road those same bolts are starting to loosen again. Hurst should make them longer and include a locking nut on them. Overall this is an excellent product, easy to install and it makes a world of difference if your old Mazda shifter is getting sloopy. I originally thought I would have to rebuild my tranny, thats how bad the shifting was. I would have needed a new shifter with a rebuild anyway and am thrilled that I tried the shifter replacement first.

4 out of 5 stars probably the best there is
Review for: Chrome Billet Plus Manual Shifter
From MD Reviewer: From A Customer   Own this product - Yes
so i have had this shifter im my truck for the past two weeks, and is probably the best investment i have made yet. i have an 88 ford ranger, and needless to say the shifter was a bit sloppy. but after putting in the new one, the difference was like night and day. good center alignment, shorter throws, and very precise. no more missed shifts, and oh my god, 2nd to 3rd has never been such a pleasure. it really takes out all the guess work in shifting and i would reccomend it to anyone with a ford ranger.

5 out of 5 stars Super Shifter
Review for: Competition Plus Manual Shifter
From Currently Iraq Reviewer: Jacob Staples   Own this product - Yes
I installed this shifter on my 1997 S-10 2.2l when I was home on leave from deployment. It is simply amazing. The installation is easy and quick. The throws are short and makes driving the truck even more enjoyable. Plus it looks a whole lot better than the stock version. I was able to fit the oversized boot under the center counsel, however it is a tight fit. I would recommend this product to anyone who loves to drive their manual S-10, well worth the money.

thought it wasnt worth it when i first saw it, finally came up with a lil extra spending cash so i got it. man i don't know why i waited so long to buy this. my shifts have improved far more than the ad. gives credit for. and it has a much more solid feel, gone is the majority of the sloppyness from before. the only thing i didnt like is it is a bit too far over towards passenger side. if there was more of an angle to the drivers position (like 2-4 inches,or adjustible) it would be alot more comfortable, though i am a bit bias, i drive a race car so i expect it to be closer to the driver side seat also the "hurst equipped" decal on the tailgate does rase some eyebrows on a 94 ranger, expecaly when i smoke the tires at a green light
