jet under drive pulley set
--this was installed on a 2003 gmc sonoma w/ zr2 package.
no new hardware was needed except for a new belt. took about 2.5 hrs to install but have not drove enough to notice a diffrence in mpg. can tell a small diffrence in hp gain
I purchased the Jet underdrive pullys for my 01 S-10 4.3 and it seems to give me a little hp and alittle better gas milage but they didnt tell me that I had to buy a shorter cerpintine belt. But other than that its worth the money and now i can catch third with no prob.
not much of a noticeable power gain but it is better on gas, instalation was easy for the crank but need an impact for the alternator but its worth it if your lookin for a better gas mileage
I just installed this pulley kit on my 04 silverado 4.3 the intall was not to bad but there are some modifications needed to the crank pully so it can tighten up nicely on the balancer, Just grind a little bit off on the inside wall of the pulley along the three bolt holes and then it will be easy to get a socket on the bolt to tighten up...On my truck I had NO low voltage at idle, the overdrive ALT. pulley did the job for me it held 14.5 volts at 800 RPM..As for power it is noticable but nothing to brag about, engine revs smother..
The power is good, but not worth the drain!!! I had to buy an optima battery just to start my car in the morning. I have a 12 inch sub and an alarm w/ remote start and the window mod. and with a normal battery don't even think about those working. Even with a 150 dollar battery the drain is so much that an idle with your turn signal on radio off, your still about to stall it. For a blazer, I just dont believe pulleys is the right move for more power.
pullys were harder to install then expected. I had to redo the cranck pully because it didn't fit. Then i had to buy new screws.
If u dont have an air gun dont even try to put them on. charge is also very low. The power is noticeable and you get a better take off.
Ok the install 2/5 stars, The instructions are VERY general, you must be mechanically inclined. It is recomended to remove your altenator (not too bad)........... The new crank pulley's inner diameter is too small, your stock bolts don't fit, so you have to grind them down, or replace them. Then you can't fit a socket on the bolts once you begin screwing them in the crank because of the lack of space (huge pain in the butt).............. Also the install requires a lock washer, new belt, and loctite #242.. not supplied in package..
.............Now the performance.. 4/5 stars (good bang for the buck) Adds about 10hp, noticable difference but no miracle worker (face it 10hp is NOT gonna take off 2sec) Electrical drain isn't too bad, average IDLE charging volts is 12.5 (reg is 14 or so). Still runs my system with subs and neon lights fine, though both head lights and neon lights get brighter with an engine rev. Sooo if you dont mind a pain in the butt install, and a lil voltage drain its a pretty good HP gain for the buck.
The pulleys were easy to install. You can really see all of the real power that your motor is producing when you drive the truck. The only problem is the low charge of the generator at idle.
Pulleys definitley give you a serious boost of horsepower but drains your electric power really bad. If you have a lot of electronics or anything that requires a lot of power don't get this! You are going to need new hardware for the pulleys as well.
Big HP gain from this product. Hard to install. Need air gun for altenator pulley for removal. Still worth the money. Cool whining sound at high rpm's.
