93 Honda Civic
This shifter is great. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it didnt come with a new dust boot and I believe it should, being that changing over your old one onto the new shifter without damaging it, can be quite difficult. The rubber could crack or rip easily if youve never replaced it prior to this installation...why would you if youre not experiencing any shifter problems from you stock shifter? The only other thing is that the instructions do not really say that it is a whole lot easier to remove the change extension if you unbolt the exhaust at the cat... although I did it without doing that with help from a buddy who pulled the exhaust over with a chain. All in all a very good product which you can install under 2 hours but maybe more if you dont have a buddy, or if youre a perfectionist like I am... If I were to buy a short shifter again Id recommend the single bend model which Im guessing is closest feel to the stock shifter as far as where it ends up. This model is great but takes a while getting used to because it doesnt come back toward you as far in like 2nd or 4th. Nice quality and really shortens you shift time up.
this is a good shifter. it definitely shortens the shift throw. but for some reason B&M is too cheap to include a new sleeve bushing and wants you to re-use your old one. this is fine, unless your car has seen 18 Ohio winters and the old sleeve bushing has become a part of the old shifter. and if youre like me and you only have time to wrench on Sundays when the Honda dealership parts department is closed and you need your car for Monday morning, it presents a problem. i gave this 3 stars because an aftermarket replacement product should come with everything needed to install it, down to new bolts and dust boots. it might raise the cost, but its well worth it
very easy to install.
I'm pretty happy with this product other then the rattle noise. it doesn't come with any sort of bushing to go in between the shift lever and the linkage, so vibrations from the transmission are transfered directly to the shifter. i was able to fix this with plastic washers i made out of washer fluid jug. the rattle noise may not be as much of an issue with stock engine mounts instead of polyurethane.
