Tech Notes
To clean filter, first brush off any large embedded dirt. Then spray on the K&N cleaner and let it soak for 10 minutes. Next, Rinse off the element with LOW pressure water. (Always flush from the clean side to the dirty side.) Then allow filter to dry NATURALLY. After filter has dried re-oil with K&N air filter oil only. Apply evenly to entire filter making sure to oil down into each pleat. Then re-install making sure the element seats properly in the filter case.
Description
These break-through engineering designs contain all the performance improvements you expect from K&N, but with even greater benefits. What is truly remarkable about the Generation II kits is that they consistently achieve incredible horsepower gains even under varying atmospheric conditions. This process is accomplished by replacing the entire air intake tract, thus isolating the cold air and directing the air through this truly unique chamber delivery system. This process may or may not include a heat shield.

4 out of 5 stars Slight gas increase

I installed this on my 2001 Dodge 1500 Ram Pick Up with a 5.2 and ended up with about 1.3 mpg increases. Over all install was easy except some of the pictures were not of the best quality and made it difficult to figure out how a bracket should sit in the directions.
4 out of 5 stars Good overall product

Like the title says, its a good overall product. Installation was a little difficult because of poor quality images. I also had to add another mounting tab to the heat shield made from a generic exhaust hanger. This is why it didnt get 5 stars. On the good side; it mounted well to the throttle body, fits well in the engine bay, and increased throttle response along with top end power. Id recommend the K&N FIPK to anyone interested in upgrading their intake.

This new air intake installed in approximately 2 hours. Longer than expected, but none the less, all parts fit well. This truck has 135K miles and was suffering significant loss of towing power. The K&N air intake combined with a new catalytic converter (old one was plugged) has significantly increased the performance of this old truck. I have experienced increased towing power and better fuel economy. Feels like a completely different vehicle!
2 out of 5 stars POOR QUALITY FOR THE MONEY

FOR THE MONEY YOU PAY,GO FIND SOME THING ELSE, IT TOOK ME ABOUT THREE HOURS AND SOME AGRAVATION WITH THE CHEAPLY MADE BAG OF PARTS, IT WAS A PAIN GETTING THE HEAT SHIELD IN PLACE, IAM sure I WILL BE REPLACEING THE INTAKE TUBE, YOU CAN TELL ITS CHEAPLY MADE AND IM SURE IT WILL CRACK,NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
1 out of 5 stars DONT BUY THIS

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram with a 5.9L, off road package and it has a flowmaster duel exhaust. It got bad gas mileage so i bought this. It makes very bad sounds and so i drove it, for about 3 months and it got to be cold. It cracked (BAD). I had to take it off and put the old system on. There is only a 90 day warrinty. For the money i paid for it, its not worth it. DO NOT BUY THIS. Buy something else. It was not worth the money and it still got bad gas mileage.
4 out of 5 stars Better performance

From California - Vehicle: 1998 DODGE Ram 1500
I have a 98 Dodge full size pick up with a 5.2L all stock. I've only had the product for two weeks and so far im happy with it. I can hear my engine breathe alot better and it also helped my MPG by 3 more miles to the gallon so in the long run i guess it will pay for itself. The only negative thing i have to say about is that if you try to put the air intake and a throttle body spacer it wont fit unless you put a body lift but the air intake wasn't made for trucks with body lifts so i costimized it myself now it does twice as better in everything MPG and performance.
5 out of 5 stars Extremely Good Product

From Payson, Az - Vehicle: 2001 DODGE Ram 1500
I recently bought a K&N air intake for my 2001 dodge ram with the 318ci motor in it and have noticed quite a bit of power and fuel economy, and unlike all of the others have not had it crack. I have had this intake for about a year now, and cant complain about anything, not even the install, because it was a sinch. As long as you don't overtighten the bolt on thethrottle body (like countless others) you will have a great air intake for years to come. All in all I say it is a GREAT intake.
4 out of 5 stars Great HP gains, but with the usual cracking problem
Reviewer: Brian  Own this product - Yes
From Boone
I got good power gains with the kit, but it craked around the TB. I think part of the problem is making sure that the arm that supports the unit from the intake manifold is properly instaled and give enough bracing to the unit. When I called K&N they sent me a new unit right away and didn't ask any questions and hassle me like some companies I have delt with.
2 out of 5 stars I highly do NOT recomend this intake system

I bought the K&N intake about a year ago, and the intake around the throttle body has already cracked, i have ordered another intake system and it's not K&N. Not a good quality intake system if your looking for something that you want to last.
2 out of 5 stars This thing kinda sux
Reviewer: Steve Brecht  Own this product - Yes

Great product performance, but they really need to use better material when constructing it, plastic just doesnt cut it and the heat shields are a pain in the ass to install too. Mine has cracked big time around the throttle body! JUNK!
