Super
Change front.
Received within a week. All in good shape. Excellant service.
Ive owned HD Bilsteins before, and this pair seems the same. I have them on an old 4Runner, and have new ones on the rear of a Toyota Tundra (because the factory ones blew twice and were WAY too plush, especially under load). They give a firm ride that still maintains very good contact with pavement when there is no load. When there is around a 1000-1800 lb. load they ride real nice. They are quality shocks that have held up very well for me in the past (the old ones are 3 years old of heavy use and still perform like new).
I recently replaced my red TRD rear shocks with Bilsteins at 128K miles. All of my TRD shocks felt worn out, and the right rear shock was starting to leak fluid from the top of the shock. The new Bilstein front shocks are on backorder, so its difficult to give a complete review for now.
My initial impression is that the Bilstein is a good replacement shock for the Tundra if highway driving is mostly what you do. It is only recommended for occassional offroad use. They seem to be a softer ride than the red TRD (also made by Bilstein) shocks. For my tastes, I prefer a little more firm, planted to the road feel like the TRD shocks provided. Sometimes I think the KYB shocks may have offered a better alternative for me, but we'll see when the new front shocks are installed. Also, I have 265/75/16 tires on the truck which are a little heavier unsprung weight than the OEM 265/70/16 tires. If you have oversized tires on your truck, I think you'll find the Bilstein not to be enough shock for you. |
