Tech Notes
To clean filter, first brush off any large embedded dirt. Then spray on the K&N cleaner and let it soak for 10 minutes. Next, Rinse off the element with LOW pressure water. (Always flush from the clean side to the dirty side.) Then allow filter to dry NATURALLY. After filter has dried re-oil with K&N air filter oil only. Apply evenly to entire filter making sure to oil down into each pleat. Then re-install making sure the element seats properly in the filter case.
Description
These break-through engineering designs contain all the performance improvements you expect from K&N, but with even greater benefits. What is truly remarkable about the Generation II kits is that they consistently achieve incredible horsepower gains even under varying atmospheric conditions. This process is accomplished by replacing the entire air intake tract, thus isolating the cold air and directing the air through this truly unique chamber delivery system. This process may or may not include a heat shield.

4 out of 5 stars Nice and Throaty!

I live in Colorado, so anything that can be done to help a motor to ingest more air at this altitude is huge! I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 liter inline six. I think the biggest help with the 4 speed automatic would be to make it shift better, but so far the K&N intake system has been nice. I dont feel a huge horsepower gain, but unless you supercharge the motor there wont be a massive gain. The sound, however is great! With a cold start, you can here it just sucking in the air. When youre driving and get it up to high rpms it has a very throaty sound(Im sure with an after market exhaust it would sound even better, thats my next addition).

The installation was a breeze. You literally just remove the stock box, put the rubber on top of the heat shield(had to make one cut), bolt down the shield, attach the tube, then the filter and youre done. The only part that took me a minute to figure out, was one bolt that holds the stock box in place has a nut that you have to remove underneath the wheel well. Definitely a faster install than the air intake system we put on my friends 2006 F-250(Not a K&N system).

I would recommend this K&N system, it looks great, sounds great and adds a little more power.

The installation of this kit is very easy if the instructions are followed.Overall it took approximately 45 minutes from removing the factory hardware to closing the hood after complete install. You can definitely hear the air being taken in at idle.Almost sounds like a vacumn leak Have driven the Jeep approximately 350 miles and am very pleased.Seems to be a slight increase in fuel mileage and easier throttle response

When I first got it the tube seemed to be made of fragile plastic and felt cheap in my hands. After waisting no time installing it I was impressed with the sound and MPG change (was averaging 21 mpg on highway, but now getting 25-26 mpg!!!) I have not noticed an increase in speed. I did 0-60 in 13 sec and after intalling it I did 13 sec. in same conditions. I recomend it to who ever doesnt want to make a weekly trip to the gas pump.

I have a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and I installed the Air Intake kit and what a difference it made. I can definitely feel a difference in power and the engine even sounds better. I am also experiencing slightly better gas milage.
