By changing to a Hypertech thermostat, you lower the temperature of the engine, increasing the air density and thus increasing power. Moreover, by running cooler, you reduce the chances of pinging, or detonation, a sure way to destroy your engine.

i have a 1989 gmc k1500 4x4 every thermostat i always had would not work right. In the morning when i would start the truck the temp would go close to overheat temperature and the all of sudden drop right down. With this thermostat it stays cool all the time and better performance |

I works well with all my HP mods on my 97 K1500 to keep the 5.7 cool. You put all that money into the motor, might as well keep it runnig cool with one of these. |

180* thermostat on my 88 iroc-z - 05/27/2008
Review for: 180° Degree Low Temperature Thermostat
|

A lot of people know that the camaros run hot. Heat kills power. I needed to lose a lil bit to help make it run better so i figured id try this out. Let me tell you, it works GREAT. Instead of running at like 200-210 constantly, im down to about 175 almost all the time. The only time it doesnt stay low is when im sitting in traffic not getting any flow at all to cool off. This is a good product and i would recommend it to anyone. |

5 Star Awesome modification to add to your vehicle - 04/21/2008
Review for: 160° Thermostat
|

I have a 2001 GMC YukonXL 1500 4X4 and am running at 170 degrees instead of the 195 degrees that I was running with the stock thermostat. My vehicle gets better gas milage and is more responsive than ever before. I do recommend getting a computer programmer like SuperChips or Hypertech to enjoy the full potential. |

Review for: 180° Thermostat

installed on a dodge dakota 5.2 V8. runs significantly cooler than 210(approx 170-180). easy to install, took 15 minutes or so. draining fluid, removing of caked old seal, etc... If you live in warmer areas (100+) this is a must. |

180 T-stat on 5.9L Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 - 01/12/2008
Review for: 180° Thermostat
|

Great product, installation was very simple, no different than any other thermostat installation. Delevery was fairly fast and tracking the delevery was made simple. I noticed an instantaneous improvement in the operating temp of my truck. The operating temp before would run just under the half-way point on the temp gauge. Now the operating temp sits at just a quarter. Would recommend product. Note: you will have some problems if you dont properly install this product, as it seems some other reviewers may have done. |

Review for: 160° Thermostat

painless installation. I flushed out and replaced my coolant when I installed the thermostat. The combination of new 70/30 fluid mixture and the thermostat keep my water temp gauge well below the 210 degree mark. I have yet to see the needle hit 200. |
