1 out of 5 stars split type helper spring bad design

Ordered the Helwig helper spring to both level out my Explorer and help with hauling loads. At maximum adjustment it only raised the vehicle 1/8th of an inch, not leveling it at all with and empty load. Not adding the support or spring pressure they advertise. The split type design is not the right way to do the job as it tries to put an additional bow in the spring where it shouldnt (between the housing and spring mounts), forcing your leafs into a W shape. A full length leaf design that puts pressure on the differential housing tube is what is needed. I was able to return it for a refund.
4 out of 5 stars works great

Medium load springs on a '97 dakota work very well with heavy loads and the trailer. Oh yeah when they're tight it makes for a good burn out when the trucks not loaded
