Review for: No-Slip Traction System For FRONT Axle With Open Differential

Yes, this thing is a breaze to install, once you get the diff. out of the truck. Be prepared to alter your front diff. breather system as my first road trip had some gear lube coming out of the breather. I dont know if its due to the R&P now turn constantly or what. Anyway, Im satisfied with this and I plan on really working this thing out this fall, when I go elk hunting.

Review for: No-Slip Traction System For REAR Axle With Open Differential
From Farmington, NM Reviewer: From A Customer   Own this product - Yes
After reading as many reviews on lots of forums that I could find, both positive and negative, I believe the Powertrax no slip is probably one of, if not the best low buck locker available to date. It performs exactly like I expected it to do. While lots can be said about D35 C clip axles, I am one who has seen them take some pretty harsh punishment and keep on going. So put it all in context as to what you are going to do with it before you trash the axle. Performance Center was great to do business with, and if I decide to lock the front axle, I will call them up again.

A great improvement over an open differential, I almost never have to use 4X4 now. After reading the instructions a few times I was able to install it very easily and with no problems, I think it took longer to remove the old gasket then to install the locker. I recommend putting the locker together a few times ahead of time so you understand how it all goes together, its not that complicated but it needs to go together in the right order as the instructions show.
As far as how it works, its great, I guess it could be considered too harsh of a lockup to be used on the street by some, but I do and have had no problems other than increased wheel spin (on purpose). I have had the locker in a 2003 Ford Ranger Edge 4X4 w/4.0L engine & automatic trans. for about 4 months now. I had a hard time deciding what locker or limited slip to put in it, but I hated the one wheel spin it did with an open diff. I am glad I went with the Powertrax, the rear wheels lock together solid everytime, no one wheel spin while the other barely turns as I have seen on some limited slips. I would buy and install it myself again, and for the price it’s hard to beat.
5 out of 5 stars Powertrax Locker For Ford 8.8
Review for: No-Slip Traction System For REAR Axle With Limited-Slip Differential
From Birmingham Reviewer: allen windham   Own this product - Yes
The powertrax locker worked great in my jeep. I can climb so many new thing that I could not climb before. I tried to install it my self but the bolt that held the center pin in my carrier broke off while I was taking it out. Be careful when taking this bolt out it only a 1/4 bolt caused me a lot of problems I had to take it to a shop to get it out. Besides that the locker is great I would recommend it to any one

The Powertrax No-Slip Traction System installed quite easily, even for a 67 year old, half blind, retiree. The recipient of the No-Slip was a 97 F150 4.6 with open differential. It was installed to fix the right turn, right wheel spining, No-Go phenom. As advertised, the operation of the differential is very quiet. The only con so far is learning to control “tire chirping” in the corners. Overall, a reasonably priced cure for the driver who wants quiet two-wheel traction.

I would recommend this product for the do-it yourself- person as it is easy to install and is a dream to use in your truck. I had the "lockrite" first in the rear end ( ford 8.8) but it was harsh on the driveline causing the drive axle and bearing to go on one side due to the sudden shock loads on the axles when turning a corner or on rough roads in the bush. this unit is better as it is quieter and doesnot produce the harsh shook loads on the rear end and axles as the other product does. it is great for everyday driving in all weather conditions on and off road. It is like having 4wheel drive on but you do not have it on at all!!!it is even good for towing light duty trailers. instructions are a-1 and have pictures also so if you arenot familiar, you will be by following the directions with the photos.simple hand tools and you are away to the races.

I was hesitant at first to open up the rear axle, but this install was so simple. It took under three hours to do and the traction is much better off road than with the open differential

Review for: No-Slip Traction System For REAR Axle With Open Differential
From San Clemente, CA Reviewer: Daiv Freeman   Own this product - Yes
I installed the Powertrax in my driveway with regular hand tools. This was my first time working on a rear end and I was surprised at how easy it was. The whole job took about 4 1/2 hours from jacking up the rear to setting it back down including reading the instructions carefully. (Could do it in half that time if I had to do it again.) Immediately after installation there was a horrendous Clunk! Clunk! Clunk! when making left turns. Richmond was closed so I went to Google for help. I found that some other guys had the same problem, but it eventually went away. I drove around town for about 30 miles, but the noise continued. Later I drove 50 miles down to San Diego and back and problem solved! The instructions call for a "50 mile normal driving break in". Normal is a reletive term. I recommend you get on the freeway and let the thing get a good bit of straight, steady driving before making any U-turns. End result? Once you get it broken-in, it is completely unnoticable except for an occasional tire-chirp on corners. Drives like an open diff, but delivers on traction!

Vehicle: 2001 Silverado/Sierra 1500 CHEVY/GMC TRUCK
I've beefed up my GMC Sierra with a 4.8L V8 as much as I could with products from TruckPerformance. I did not realize how much power was wasted with an open differential. This Powertrax is terrific! It's quiet compared to other lockers, and took only a couple of hours to install. The truck accelerates better, and I'm getting more out of the added HP from the Hypertech and other products I've added to it. Well worth the investment.

The powertrax is a good buy. It greatly increased my traction on the street and off. Both in a staight line and in the turns. Some noise making tight turns and can feel engagement in these cases but worth the money.
