Thermostat will work in 1997-2006 Ford F-150's w/ 4.6L. 2001-on WILL set MIL lamp. I put it in my 2004 F-150 and it works very well. Noticeable gain on takeoff. Drawback is MIL being on.
Depends on your application
A buddy of mine installed it on his 99 Dakota Sport 5.2L and he had problems out of his engine because it was too cold, not to mention the fact he had no heat in the winter time. It was like he had the vent on in his truck.
hypertech thermostate
On my 2000 ford expedition it lowered the temp a little with very little horsepower. It also made the service engine soon light come on. I'm going to try the 180 stat and see what happens. I also had this on my 1997 Chevy Tahoe and it worked great. More horsepower, lower temps. Absoluty great and highly recommended for the Chevy Tahoe.
Keeps it reel cool
I do not personaly own this product but I bought it for a friend. He said that it did improve his towing power slightly, along with his gas mileage. It keeps the engine significantly cooler without messing with the fuel trim.
